How to Install Bull Bars

There is a big interest among vehicle owners to learn more about how to install bull bars on their cars. Depending on the type of vehicle and the level of protection needed, a bull bar installation can range from an incredibly easy Saturday afternoon installation to a more complicated install. The type of vehicle and your fabrication expertise will in large part influence the ease of the installation, but it will mostly depend on the bull bar in question.

Some of the biggest names in the bull bar industry include Aries, Westin, RBP and Dee Zee, to name a few. Their bull bars are rather similar, with each brand using top quality materials such as stainless steel in the design.

Installing the Bull Bar

Once you have decided on which bull bar to go with, here are a few tips to keep in mind during its installation. While its general installation will be the same, each type of car and specific bull bar brand will have its own peculiarities that may require a slightly different approach during installation:

  1. Read the instructions that come with the bull bar.

  2. Ensure that you have all the required tools and that there aren’t any parts missing.

  3. Locate the factory-drilled holes underneath the vehicle.

  4. Bolt the bull bar’s brackets into the holes, torqueing it down.

  5. Connect the mounting brackets and the bull bar and make sure that everything is level and even.

  6. Make doubly sure that all the bolts are tight.

This is just a general approach you can take to installing bull bars.
