Get A Bluetooth Car Kit and Stay on the Right Side of the Law

Many South Africans seem to believe that they don’t need a Bluetooth car kit and are allowed to handle their cellphones while operating their vehicles, as long as they are not actually holding it to talk on it or as long as their vehicle is stationary. The reality is different and, in fact, South Africa’s cellphone legislation in terms of using these devices in vehicles is very clear:
No driver of a vehicle is allowed to hold a handheld cellphone while driving.
You may not even have it in your hand while stationary in traffic or at a red traffic light.
Neither may you use it to text, browse the Internet, enter GPS locations, or take photos while driving.
Even some officials who were at one stage exempt from these restrictions no longer are.*
Your vehicle has to be switched off and properly parked in an actual parking spot before you are allowed to touch your phone. Besides the fact that hefty fines can be imposed, you are also distracted and can cause an accident while you are looking at your phone.
The Solution: A Bluetooth Car Kit
That is why everyone with a modern Bluetooth-enable smartphone needs a hands-free car kit to use their phones safely in their vehicles. As long as both your hands are free to operate your vehicle and you are not touching your phone, you are perfectly legal. In addition, if you use your phone for navigation, also invest in a mount for your phone where you can see and hear it without having to touch it. And last but not least, if you are entering a GPS location, do it before your trip and not while operating your vehicle.
EFC’s Range of Bluetooth Car Kits
We sell an entire range of Bluetooth car kits for all needs and budgets and we prefer the market-leading Parrot brand because of its excellent quality and expansive range. So, if you just want something inexpensive and simple to answer calls and you are hardly going to need any other functionality, the Parrot CK3000 Evo is ideal. A slight upgrade on it is the CK3100 LCD, which adds a basic display to it. There are even kits available to enable your Parrot device to work through your car’s existing steering-wheel controls. Lastly, the Parrot Asteroid Smart goes the whole hog and is a 6,2-inch full-colour, double-DIN, touchscreen GPS running Android and capable of downloading apps.
As you can see, when it comes to choosing a Bluetooth car kit, we have you covered.
